Scripture to Read: Exodus 2:1–10
Today, we examine Exodus 2:1–10 as God had Moses write about his parents and how they protected him from being murdered by the Egyptians. When God led Moses’s mother to put Moses in the wicker basket, she trusted that God would take care of her child, but she had no idea how God would work. God calls us to trust Him, even when the situation seems worse than anything we could imagine. God tells us in Proverbs 3:5–6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Moses’ mother trusted God with all her heart and waited to see how God would work. The fact that the daughter of Pharaoh found Moses is miracle number one. It’s funny that even Pharaoh’s own daughter was unwilling to follow her father’s command. Miracle number two is that Moses’s sister asks Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women that she may nurse the child for you?” After she is told, “go ahead,” Moses’ sister gets her mom, and Moses’ mom gets to nurse her own child and care for him for three months (Acts 7:20). Also, in miracle number three, Pharaoh’s daughter tells Moses’ mother, “Take this child away and nurse him for me and I will give you your wages.” So, God had Pharaoh’s daughter pay Moses’ mother to raise her own child as well and care for him. God’s plan always goes beyond our wildest dreams.
