Day 1

Scripture to Read: Matthew 21:1–11

Our Lord Jesus Christ came to this earth in an average body like ours. He lived a perfect life but was still entirely misunderstood by most, especially the religious leaders of His day. Our Lord came for a purpose, as God says through John in 1 John 3:5 & 8, “5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. 8 The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.” So, Christ came to take away our sins and destroy the devil’s work. To carry out the Father’s perfect will, Jesus spent daily fellowship in prayer with our Heavenly Father. We know Jesus never did anything that God the Father had not already commanded Him to do. Jesus said this in John 5:19, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner” and again Jesus said it in John 5:30, John 6:38, John 8:28, John 12:49, and John 14:10, and many other passages. When Jesus asked His disciples to get Him the donkey and the colt, He fulfilled the Father’s will as prophesied in Zechariah 9:9. Jesus rode the colt, signifying that He came in peace, for He was and still is the Prince of Peace. A conquering general would have ridden in on a horse, not a colt. So, Christ’s triumphal entry was the picture of perfect humility.

Day 2

God is sovereign in everything, which means He is our supreme Ruler and King. God never lies and never makes mistakes. God’s leadership in all things has been and always will be perfect. As our Lord Jesus instructed two of His disciples to find the colt, we see that God led Mark to mention only the colt, not the donkey. We also see that God l...

Day 3

Jesus’ triumphal entry is shared in all four Gospels. Our Lord Jesus Christ deserved and will deserve to be praised and worshipped for all eternity. The Pharisees, who hated our Lord Jesus Christ, did not like that the people were shouting “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest,” a dir...

Day 4

Today, in John 12:1–19, God led John to give us another perspective on Christ’s triumphal entry. Before the day of His triumphal entry, we find Jesus in the house of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus (the same Lazarus Jesus raised from the dead in John 11). In John 12, Mary, Martha and Lazarus' sister, took an expensive perfume bottle and anointed Je...

Day 5

Christ’s triumphal entry reminds us that He is worthy of all our praise and our daily obedience. God has called us to walk in obedience to Him and serve Him in the works He’s prepared for us to do. We know it is His perfect will for us to serve Him and to fulfill what His plans are for us each day. We read in Ephesians 2:10, Philippians 2:13,...

Day 6

Take a moment and reread Luke 19:41–42. Jesus wept over the lostness of all those in Jerusalem because He knew they were utterly missing who He was as their Messiah. We all have people in our lives whom we must pray for who are lost in their sins. The only way we become broken for the lost souls around us is to pray for them. We must pray, as...

Day 7

We know Christ’s triumphal entry led to His mock trial, beating, crucifixion, death, burial, and most importantly, His resurrection. The life that Christ gives us is eternal but it’s not just about the quantity of life; this life is also about the quality of life. Through that quality of life, we can live in such a way that honors our Lord in...
