Scripture to Read: Acts 4:5–12
Yesterday, we saw how persecution comes to those who serve our Lord. We know persecution comes from the spiritual forces of wickedness, but it’s hard to see it that way when we can’t see into the spiritual realm. As we end today, we see in Acts 4:5–6 that Peter and John were brought before “their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem; 6 and Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas and John and Alexander, and all who were of high-priestly descent.” These people were pawns, being used by spiritual forces they could not see. God’s Word is so good, and it’s exciting to see how He uses His children in the most powerful and incredible ways when we are submitted to Him to carry out His perfect will. When Peter and John stood before the leaders, they were asked this question in Acts 4:7: “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?” God opened an incredible door for Peter and John (Colossians 4:3–4) to share about Christ. Being filled by God’s Holy Spirit, Peter spoke boldly (Ephesians 6:19–20) about our Lord in Acts 4:8–12. God wants us ready to share Him as He opens opportunities for us to be His witnesses for our Lord Jesus Christ. We share Christ because we know, according to Acts 4:12, “…there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
Challenge & Application
· What did God teach you today about how He wants to use you each day to share Him with others?
· How are you preparing yourself each day to be used by our Lord to share Him?
