Day 2

Scripture to Read: Acts 2:43

Think about the last time you were in absolute awe of what God has done, or is doing, or what you know He’s going to do in the future. Now, if it was challenging to come up with something, it’s not that God is not working miraculously every day; it’s because we miss His handiwork due to allowing ourselves to be distracted by the garbage the world dumps on us each day. We read in Acts 2:43, Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. We must guard our hearts against everything the enemy uses (Ephesians 6:12) to distract us from what God is doing each day. The believers in the first church were in awe every day as God used the apostles to perform incredible miracles. Now, we might think that if we saw more miracles, we might be in awe every day too. But it’s not that God is not doing miracles; we miss the miracles that God does right before our eyes. For instance, God is saving lost souls worldwide every day. We miss this miracle from God because we listen to secular reports from lost people who will never report how God is working in this world. God is sanctifying us every day through His Word (John 17:17, Ephesians 5:26), through the blood of Christ (Hebrews 9:11–14), and through His Spirit in us (1 Peter 1:2). God deserves our “awe and wonder,” therefore, we must guard against spiritual blindness (John 12:37–43).

Challenge & Application

· What did God teach you today about the miracles He is working in this world today? · How will you be more observant of God’s miraculous work in this world and in your life each day?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

The last set of devotions was incredibly encouraging as we saw God use Peter and the other disciples, who had been filled with His Holy Spirit, to lead over 3,000 souls to surrender to Christ as Lord. So, as the church of our Lord Jesus Christ began, let us examine what the people did. We read in Acts 2:42, They were continually devoting them...

Day 3

God changes every follower of Christ drastically (John 3:3, Romans 6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:17) because He comes to dwell in every Christian through His Holy Spirit. Sometimes the change is immediately evident to everyone, and sometimes the change takes more time. It’s not that God does not do the same transformational work in each person; it’s t...

Day 4

Yesterday, we discussed God’s transformational work in every believer's life. God continues to show us how the new believers in the first church were growing. We read in Acts 2:46, Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of hea...

Day 5

As God worked in the lives of all the new believers, He continued to change the lives of people around them. We read in Acts 2:47, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. We know from Acts 2:46 that the new believers shared their meals with great joy and...

Day 6

God loves to carry out His work through us. We know God has called us to His work because He confirms it over and over again in His Word. We should never ask if we are called to serve in God’s Kingdom. But what we should ask God is that He not let us miss the work He has for us to accomplish each day. In Acts 3:1–6, we see Peter and John on t...

Day 7

The gift Peter and John offered this lame man was the gift of walking. It’s hard for us to imagine what went through this lame man’s mind, but since God had already been performing miracles through the apostles (Acts 2:43), more than likely, the lame man had heard some of the reports about these miracles. So, the lame man did not question Pet...
