Scripture to Read: 2 Timothy 3:17
It was so fun in yesterday’s devotion seeing all of the profitable things God’s Word does for us. We know God’s Word transforms us because we see the evidence in our lives and the lives of many other believers. God’s Word is many things to us as followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. God’s Word is a sword of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 6:17) used to kill the temptations we face each day. God’s Word is living and active and judges our thoughts and our intentions (Hebrews 4:12). God’s Word guides our steps in this life so that we walk the path God has for us to walk (Psalms 119:105). God’s Word must be treasured by us so that we choose not to sin against our Lord (Psalms 119:11). God’s Word is the everlasting seed that gives us eternal life through Christ (1 Peter 1:23). God’s Word is what we must choose to hunger for, just like a baby hungers for the pure milk of its mom (1 Peter 2:2). God’s Word is sweeter than honey when we feed upon it each day (Psalms 119:103). Then we see today, in 2 Timothy 3:17, that God’s Word prepares us and equips us so that we are well trained to carry out the works God has for us to accomplish for His glory, kingdom, purpose, and pleasure. If we feel unequipped for some reason, we have not been feeding on God’s Word so that we are ready to be used by Him.
