Day 3

Scripture to Read: 2 Timothy 3:13

As we saw in last week’s devotions, from 2 Timothy 3:1-9, people are going to be “lovers of self.” Then we saw yesterday that we are going to face persecution. So today, in 2 Timothy 3:13, we have God telling us, through Paul, that these evil people described in 2 Timothy 3:1-9 are only going to get worse and worse. Many people live in this world thinking that we might have a chance to see this world end wars, end poverty, end abortion, end killing, end homelessness, end starvation, etc. But God tells us a different story, and His Truth we can count on because it is Truth! The evil people in this world who have no desire to know Christ, no desire to repent of their sin, but only love themselves are walking a path of eternal destruction. The sad news is that they are living out that destructive life here and now. People in this world are only pursuing what makes them happy. But we, as believers, know that nothing in this world can ever fulfill anyone’s wants and desires. Nothing this world has to offer can ever completely satisfy anyone. Since this world and all it has to offer always fall short, these evil people move toward more selfishness and evil motives. These evil people allow their hearts to grow more calloused and they live to deceive others and are even deceived themselves. We must live for our Lord, share His gospel, pray John 16:8-11 for all lost souls, and thank Him that He is still transforming lives.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about the evil people in this world? 2. How are you sharing your faith with the lost around you, helping them understand that Christ is our only Hope?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

As God continues to use Paul to encourage Timothy and us, today we find the reminder of making sure we follow the examples of godly believers who have gone before us. God used Paul in Timothy’s life to teach Timothy how to walk with our Lord. Timothy watched Paul’s conduct, and Timothy saw Paul fulfilling God’s purpose in the way Paul lived. ...

Day 2

Today’s devotion challenges all of us as believers in Christ. None of us like to think that we will suffer persecution. Most of us want life to be easy, with not too many trials, tests, or tribulations. We will even pray and ask God to give us His protection, hoping that we live a life that is not too hard. But God tells us in 2 Timothy 3:12 ...

Day 4

We saw in yesterday’s devotion that evil people are going to continue to “proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.” But, through Paul, God tells Timothy and us, in 2 Timothy 3:14, that we must all continue in the things we have “learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them.” God has taught us so man...

Day 5

We have to love how God gives us such clarity in His Word as we read, study, and memorize His Word. Today we focus on 2 Timothy 3:15, and as we saw yesterday, we are to walk in His Truth that has been taught to us by many godly people in our lives. As God speaks to Timothy and us, through Paul, we note that Timothy was taught God’s Word even ...

Day 6

If there was ever any doubt that God’s Word is truly God’s Word, we see that God clears up all doubt in 2 Timothy 3:16. The evidence that what we have today that the Bible we have is God’s authoritative Word is overwhelming. An excellent resource to help us understand the evidence available to us so we know that what we have today is God’s au...

Day 7

It was so fun in yesterday’s devotion seeing all of the profitable things God’s Word does for us. We know God’s Word transforms us because we see the evidence in our lives and the lives of many other believers. God’s Word is many things to us as followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. God’s Word is a sword of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 6:17) used...
