Day 6

Scripture to Read: 2 Timothy 1:13-14

Today we read 2 Timothy 1:13-14 and here, through Paul, God gives to Timothy, and us, specific instructions about His Truth and His Treasure that have been given to us all. First, God tells Timothy (and us) that we must hold tightly to His Truth. Only God’s Word is “sound” (secure, safe, reliable, worth holding onto); therefore, we must make sure we are reading, studying, memorizing, and applying God’s Word to our lives every day. God’s Word feeds our souls and gives us the solid foundation for living in this messed up world. God’s Word transforms our lives, and through this transformation, we look more like our Heavenly Father each day. God has given us the faith and love we need through our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ so that we can stand on solid ground through His Word. Our faith is put into action as we obey God’s Truth each day. Our love is applied by pursuing our intimacy with our Lord and His Word every day and by serving everyone around us to show them we love them as we love ourselves. Second, God also tells us we must guard, through the Holy Spirit who lives in us, the awesome Treasure He has entrusted to us. The Treasure is the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We guard this Treasure by sharing it with everyone God brings into our lives. We also guard the Treasure by living for our Lord daily. Holding tightly to His Truth and guarding His Treasure is what we must do each day until He calls us home.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about His Truth and His Treasure? 2. How are you walking in His Truth and guarding His Treasure each day?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

We begin a new book this week, walking through 2 Timothy. My prayer is that God will plant His Word deep within us as we read, study and even memorize His Word for life transformation. God has Paul introduce himself as an apostle of Jesus Christ, but it happened as part of God’s will. In reading this, we would think that Paul did not have a c...

Day 2

Today we read 2 Timothy 1:5-6 and we see the investment of three different people into Timothy’s life. We know that Paul had mentored Timothy and was continuing to mentor Timothy through the letters of 1 & 2 Timothy. We’re not exactly sure when Timothy came to know Christ as Lord, but we know that God used Timothy’s mom and grandmother (2 Tim...

Day 3

As we saw yesterday, because we have a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, we need to continually keep fanning the flame God has given us through His Holy Spirit in us. Today we focus on 2 Timothy 1:7. God’s Holy Spirit lives in every believer on the face of the earth. God stopped coming to a manmade temple 400 years before Christ came t...

Day 4

2 Timothy 1:8 starts with the word “therefore.” I learned years ago, through Precept Ministries, that anytime you see a “therefore” in the Bible, ask yourself, “What’s the ‘therefore’ there for?” God made it clear that His Holy Spirit in us gives us His power, love, and discipline. Therefore, we are never to be ashamed to testify of our Lord ...

Day 5

Through Paul, God gives Timothy, and all of us, some incredible words of encouragement today. Remember yesterday, God told us through His Word that we will suffer in this life because we have surrendered to Christ as Lord. Suffering comes in many different ways, but God uses our suffering for His honor, glory, and praise. We read today that P...

Day 7

As we close out this week, our Lord uses Paul to remind us of those who will disappoint us and those who will walk beside us no matter what we face in this life. Disappointments happen to everyone, and the disappointments that usually hurt the most are from people close to us. God has Paul share with Timothy (and us) that everyone in the regi...
