Day 2

Scripture to Read: 2 Peter 2:1

As we saw yesterday, we must constantly guard against false teachers and preachers. As God led Peter to write, it's interesting to note that 2 Peter 2:1 says this about the false teachers: even denying the Master who bought them. A false teaching that is widespread today is that God has chosen some for heaven, and He has chosen some to be sent to hell. But if this were true, then God’s Word should say (in 2 Peter 2:1) that the false teachers deny the Master who chose NOT to buy them. The reason God chose not to purchase them is that He had already chosen them for destruction and eternal punishment and the swift destruction that comes on these false teachers, God planned for them from the beginning because He hated them from the beginning. BUT that is not what God’s Word says in 2 Peter 2:1. God's Word is clear in that He did pay the price for the false teacher's sin through our Lord Jesus Christ. It is His desire that EVERYONE, including all false teachers and preachers, be saved (see these verses for further evidence of God’s heart toward all lost souls: 1 Timothy 2:3–4, John 3:16–17, 2 Peter 3:9, Ezekiel 18:23, Ezekiel 18:32, Titus 2:11). The destruction that does end up coming on these false teachers is due to their choice to refuse God and His Truth. But it is NOT God’s choice to refuse them salvation. Therefore, we must pray 2 Timothy 2:25–26 for every lost soul.

Challenge & Application

· What is the number one takeaway that God taught you today and how will you apply this to your life? · Begin praying John 16:8–11 and 2 Timothy 2:25–26 for the lost that you know, and even for the lost you don’t know.

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Last week we completed 2 Peter 1, as God confirmed for us that NONE of His prophecies were an act of human will, but He, through His Holy Spirit, moved men to write His Truth. Of course, all of God’s Word was written this way. Therefore, as we read, study, memorize and even preach and teach God’s Word, we must always remember that it is no on...

Day 3

As we read 2 Peter 2:2–3, we see that MANY people follow the false teacher’s sensuality (evil teaching and shameful immorality). This description gives us a clear picture of what we see in our world today. People today, and in every generation over time, would rather live according to their fleshly desires instead of surrendering to Christ as...

Day 4

God continued to lead Peter to write, in 2 Peter 2:4–8, some incredible“ if God” statements to confirm His judgment on those false teachers who refuse His love, mercy, and grace. God also had Peter pen how He pours out His grace on those who choose to worship Him alone. After God’s warning of what will happen to the false teachers, God valida...

Day 5

We saw God’s judgment yesterday, but God also rescued. God had Peter write that “righteous” Lot was rescued by Him. Read Genesis 19 as a reminder of Lot, but as you do, take note that you won’t see much righteousness in Lot’s life. So, when God had Peter call Lot “righteous,” we know that Lot’s righteousness was NOT found in himself, but his ...

Day 6

The unrighteous are arrogant, that they even criticize and condemn angels and demons. But then God has Peter note that not even angels dare to bring a charge before our Lord against the demons. An excellent example of an archangel not rebuking the devil is found in Jude 1:9. Michael the archangel said to the devil, “The Lord rebuke you!” God ...

Day 7

God finishes by calling the false teachers, and every person who refuses to surrender to Christ as Lord, dried-up springs or mists that are blown away by the wind, in 2 Peter 2:17. God continues to give a clear description in 2 Peter 2:18–22 of what the false teachers are doing and the outcome of what they have brought upon themselves. Many p...
