Day 3

Scripture to Read: 2 Peter 1:16

In all of our lives, God has times when He allows us to experience Him more broadly and profoundly than we ever expected. Even though He lives in us through His Holy Spirit, there are moments of deep intimacy with our Lord that are additional sweet times with Him. When Christ was here in the flesh, the Holy Spirit was not yet indwelling the original disciples as they followed our Lord Jesus Christ. Yet, the disciples still got to experience Christ’s wondrous works in some pretty miraculous ways. Of all of the disciples, Peter, James, and John were the only three invited to some extraordinary experiences with our Lord, which means the other disciples did not get to experience these same special times but only heard about them after they happened. One of those special times with our Lord was on the Mount of Transfiguration as recorded in Matthew 17:1–5, Mark 9:2–7, and Luke 9:28–35. God the Father allowed Peter, James, and John to be eyewitnesses of Him revealing through our Lord Jesus Christ the radiance of His Shekinah glory (Shekinah is the Hebrew name given to the presence of God dwelling on earth, and Jesus was the ultimate form of God appearing to man in all His glory). This experience on the Mount of Transfiguration would have been an incredible honor and privilege for Peter, James, and John. So, as Peter mentions in 2 Peter 1:16 being an eyewitness of Christ’s majesty, Peter was referencing his experience with Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration.

Day 1

Last week we ended with God having Peter tell the believers in his day that he would be diligent in presenting God’s Truth. God used Peter to challenge the first readers of this letter, that Peter would be diligent in teaching them God’s Truth so that after he was taken home, the believers would remember God’s Truth. This week we get the priv...

Day 2

As we continue our walk through God’s Word, we begin to see how God wants us protected from false teachers. As followers of Christ, we have to continually guard our minds and hearts so that we do not get caught up with following deceptive teachers and teachings about Christ or His Word. There are many false teachers in our world today and if ...

Day 4

Yesterday we began to unpack the beautiful picture of those special times when God allows us to experience Him extraordinarily. As God led Peter to share a little of what he, James, and John experienced on the Mount of Transfiguration, God had Peter share this in 2 Peter 1:17, For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an ...

Day 5

We have seen through what God had Peter write in 2 Peter 1:17–18 being clearly laid out in Matthew 17:1–5, Mark 9:2–7, and Luke 9:28–35. Over and over again, God the Father confirmed that Christ is God, and He lived on earth in a fleshly shell. God stated this again in Colossians 1:19, For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullnes...

Day 6

We know God had Peter testify of his eyewitness account of Christ. God had Peter continue his testimony in 2 Peter 1:19 as Peter shared how he heard God’s voice from heaven, declaring Christ as His one and only Son. God had Peter further confirm that everything the prophets had written about Christ was made “more sure” to him, James, and John...

Day 7

We finish today with 2 Peter 1:20–21. God had Peter lay a solid foundation that His Word is absolutely His Word and not something that mankind came up with on his own. God had Peter write in 2 Peter 1:20 that NONE of the prophecies about Christ came from the prophet's own made-up interpretation. Even though people use the excuse that man’s in...
