Day 1

Scripture to Read: 2 Peter 1:16

Last week we ended with God having Peter tell the believers in his day that he would be diligent in presenting God’s Truth. God used Peter to challenge the first readers of this letter, that Peter would be diligent in teaching them God’s Truth so that after he was taken home, the believers would remember God’s Truth. This week we get the privilege of uncovering the precious treasures God has given us in 2 Peter 1:16–21. God had Peter confirm His Truth, which God shared through Peter with the believers in his day and with us. In 2 Peter 1:16, God wanted the believers who first received this letter, and all of us, to know for sure that what God had Peter write in this letter, and even in his first letter, was NOT some story Peter came up with on his own. So God confirmed that this was His Word and not some clever story from some creative storytellers. When God led Peter and all the other apostles to share their eyewitness accounts of Christ, God was making sure that everyone would know that these testimonies indeed were true. God led Peter and others to share about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. God also had Peter share more of his personal testimony when Peter wrote how he, James, and John saw Christ’s majestic splendor with their own eyes. Now, just from reading 2 Peter 1:16, we don’t know that Peter was talking about James and John, but we will uncover this fact later this week.

Challenge & Application

· Why did God have Peter share what he shared in 2 Peter 1:16? · Knowing that God’s Word is not just clever tales made up by men but truly His Word, how are you being transformed by His Word?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

There are many false teachers in our world today and if ...

Day 3

In all of our lives, God has times when He allows us to experience Him more broadly and profoundly than we ever expected. Even though He lives in us through His Holy Spirit, there are moments of deep intimacy with our Lord that are additional sweet times with Him. When Christ was here in the flesh, the Holy Spirit was not yet indwelling the o...

Day 4

Yesterday we began to unpack the beautiful picture of those special times when God allows us to experience Him extraordinarily. Day 5

We have seen through what God had Peter write in 2 Peter 1:17–18 being clearly laid out in Matthew 17:1–5, Mark 9:2–7, and Luke 9:28–35. Over and over again, God the Father confirmed that Christ is God, and He lived on earth in a fleshly shell. God stated this again in Colossians 1:19, For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullnes...

Day 6

We know God had Peter testify of his eyewitness account of Christ. God had Peter continue his testimony in 2 Peter 1:19 as Peter shared how he heard God’s voice from heaven, declaring Christ as His one and only Son. God had Peter further confirm that everything the prophets had written about Christ was made “more sure” to him, James, and John...

Day 7

We finish today with 2 Peter 1:20–21. God had Peter lay a solid foundation that His Word is absolutely His Word and not something that mankind came up with on his own. God had Peter write in 2 Peter 1:20 that NONE of the prophecies about Christ came from the prophet's own made-up interpretation. Even though people use the excuse that man’s in...
