Day 6

Scripture to Read: 1 Thessalonians 2:11-13

God reminds us today how we are to live as believers. As God led Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to share the Gospel through their lives and actions in Thessalonica, God wants us to do the same right where we live today. As we live for Christ and lead others to live for Christ, we also are to exhort, encourage, and implore one another, just like a loving dad would do with his own children. We are to exhort, encourage, and implore so that each of us lives our lives in a manner that honors our God and Savior Christ Jesus. The reason we must continually be exhorting and encouraging one another is because the circumstances of this life can weigh us down at times and if we’re not careful we can lose heart by not staying focused on Christ and His Word. We must also, at times, implore (ask, request, even beg) one another to stay the course in this Christian life. God has called us to Himself, and as His children we must represent Him well to each other as believers and to this lost world. The way we exhort, encourage, and implore each other is through God’s Truth, His Word. We have to be willing to receive God’s Word by reading, studying, and memorizing God’s Word on our own. But we must also be willing to be taught God’s Word by pastors, preachers, teachers, evangelists, and other equippers of the saints. God uses them to exhort, encourage, and implore us too, and through them, we grow in Him together.

Challenge & Application

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God uses us to be salt and light in the lives of those who are around us. Sometimes being used by God seems a little overwhelming or maybe even fruitless. But, when we consider that God is being glorified in us and through us and that God uses His Word through us to change people, then our investment in others is incredibly rewarding. As God ...

Day 2

God desires to use us to share Him with everyone we meet. God orchestrates our lives, as believers, so that we carry out His purpose and plans for His good pleasure, as He says in Philippians 2:13, “ for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” So today, we learn in 1 Thessalonians 2:3 that what Paul, ...

Day 3

As we continue our walk through 1 Thessalonians 2, and as God is teaching us, we need to examine our lives and motives as we serve our Lord each day by serving others. God led Paul to let the Thessalonian Christians know that what he, Silvanus, and Timothy shared with them (the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ) was NOT to try and take advantag...

Day 4

Today we start with a question. We need to ask ourselves this, “How do I view other Christians who are not already my close friends?” We need to be honest with ourselves about this because, for many of us, we live with a very skeptical heart. In other words, some of us see the worst in others long before we see the best. We will question some...

Day 5

When we serve others, when we have the opportunities to share Christ with family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and others, we need to make sure we are never a burden to the people we’re investing in. As we walk through 1 Thessalonians 2:9-10 today, we see that God is using Paul to communicate with the Christians in Thessalonica how he, Sil...

Day 7

God lovingly reminds us today to make sure we choose our role models carefully. God used Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to share the Gospel with the people of Thessalonica, and as the Thessalonians surrendered to Christ as Lord, they began to imitate the lives of Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy. That is how God wants us to live our lives as well. Go...
