Day 2

Scripture to Read: 1 Thessalonians 2:3-4

God desires to use us to share Him with everyone we meet. God orchestrates our lives, as believers, so that we carry out His purpose and plans for His good pleasure, as He says in Philippians 2:13, “ for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” So today, we learn in 1 Thessalonians 2:3 that what Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy shared with the Thessalonians was God’s pure and faithful Word. God led Paul to remind the Thessalonians that the words Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy shared with them were not shared by mistake nor from any wicked motives on their part. God also wanted the Thessalonians to know that the message they received from Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy was God’s Truth; therefore, their message was complete and accurate. Then God led Paul to tell the Thessalonians, in 1 Thessalonians 2:4, that he, Silvanus, and Timothy received the Gospel message from God and had also been approved by God to share this Gospel message with the Thessalonians. But God also made it clear, through Paul, that Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy were not in Thessalonica seeking the favor of men, but they were there to please the Lord God Almighty, for God is the One who examines their hearts. We must also live, not to please men, but to please our Lord, for He alone is the One who examines our hearts each day. Living for our Lord gives us purpose, and He is able to use us to carry out His plan.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about yourself and how you are to live for Him? 2. What believers will you share this good news with this week? Maybe share with someone you know who struggles with being a people pleaser.

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God uses us to be salt and light in the lives of those who are around us. Sometimes being used by God seems a little overwhelming or maybe even fruitless. But, when we consider that God is being glorified in us and through us and that God uses His Word through us to change people, then our investment in others is incredibly rewarding. As God ...

Day 3

As we continue our walk through 1 Thessalonians 2, and as God is teaching us, we need to examine our lives and motives as we serve our Lord each day by serving others. God led Paul to let the Thessalonian Christians know that what he, Silvanus, and Timothy shared with them (the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ) was NOT to try and take advantag...

Day 4

Today we start with a question. We need to ask ourselves this, “How do I view other Christians who are not already my close friends?” We need to be honest with ourselves about this because, for many of us, we live with a very skeptical heart. In other words, some of us see the worst in others long before we see the best. We will question some...

Day 5

When we serve others, when we have the opportunities to share Christ with family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and others, we need to make sure we are never a burden to the people we’re investing in. As we walk through 1 Thessalonians 2:9-10 today, we see that God is using Paul to communicate with the Christians in Thessalonica how he, Sil...

Day 6

God reminds us today how we are to live as believers. As God led Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to share the Gospel through their lives and actions in Thessalonica, God wants us to do the same right where we live today. As we live for Christ and lead others to live for Christ, we also are to exhort, encourage, and implore one another, just like ...

Day 7

God lovingly reminds us today to make sure we choose our role models carefully. God used Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to share the Gospel with the people of Thessalonica, and as the Thessalonians surrendered to Christ as Lord, they began to imitate the lives of Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy. That is how God wants us to live our lives as well. Go...
