Day 2

Scripture to Read: 1 Peter 2:12

God lovingly tells us today in 1 Peter 2:12, Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. As God references the “Gentiles,” He is referring to anyone who does not have a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ yet. God tells us that our behavior must be excellent among the lost people in our lives. As Christians, our lives are always being examined by those who do not know Christ. Having our lives being watched is not a bad thing because God has called us to be salt and light in this distasteful and dark world. Our lives must shine brightly for our Lord Jesus Christ so that others see and hear the Word of God through the way we live and talk (1 Thessalonians 1:7-8). There will be times that we will be falsely accused by lost people for doing something we did not do. Living our lives for our Lord keeps us protected, even from false accusations. It is not that the accusations won’t happen because they will. We live in obedience to our Lord now so that when false accusations happen, everyone who has watched our lives will give honor to God when He comes to judge this world. The testimony of our lives today will bring honor to our Lord in the future, and even the lost will proclaim that Christ is Lord because of the way they saw us live.

Challenge & Application

1. You know people are watching your life, and especially lost people, so how are you making sure to honor our Lord through your words and actions? 2. What is your greatest challenge in being a good witness to the lost people around you?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God has been richly challenging us over the past few weeks as we have been on our journey through 1 Peter. This week is going to be no different and that’s a great thing for each of us. The fact that God loves us enough to give us His Word so there is no doubt how to know Him and how to walk in obedience to Him is a great blessing. Today we e...

Day 3

We learned yesterday that our lives are to be a living example to the lost people in our lives. God continues to challenge us as He tells us in 1 Peter 2:13-15, Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, 14 or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the ...

Day 4

Yesterday we saw that God called us to submit to the authorities He’s placed over our lives. But even with authorities over us, God has given us freedom through our Lord Jesus Christ. The freedom God has poured out on us is choosing to love Him, obey Him, and serve Him (by serving those in our lives). We also have been set free from the power...

Day 5

The theme of submission has been central this week in God’s Word. God continues to get more specific about our submission and walking in obedience to Him as we examine 1 Peter 2:11-25. Today we focus on 1 Peter 2:18-20, as God says, Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also t...

Day 6

God covers our purpose today according to all He’s shared with us so far in 1 Peter 2. As we know, God has hammered down how we are to submit to every authority in our lives. We submit because we honor our Lord Jesus Christ and walk in obedience to Him and His Word through submission. Even when submitting is uncomfortable because we serve und...

Day 7

As we wrap up 1 Peter 2, God lovingly reminds us of what Christ has done for us. 1 Peter 2:24-25 says, and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. 25 For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and G...
