Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 6:11
God laid out in 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 those who will not inherit His Kingdom. But then, God had Paul also write this in 1 Corinthians 6:11, “Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” What an incredible reminder that every Christian was once lost in their sinful state. There is not an individual from the past, present, nor will there be in the future who can ever say, “I deserve to inherit the kingdom of God.” God alone provides salvation from the penalty of sin and the power of sin through our Lord Jesus Christ. And, because of Christ’s sacrifice of Himself on the cross and because of His shed blood, every Christian has been “washed” clean from all sins—past, present, and even all sins future (Romans 3:24, Colossians 1:13–14, Ephesians 2:5, 13, Colossians 2:13–14, 1 Peter 2:24). We’ve also been “sanctified” (Hebrews 10:10, Hebrews 10:14, Hebrews 13:12), which means to be “set apart” by God. God has made us holy through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are to live holy lives for our King. God has also “justified” every Christian. To be justified means to be declared righteous, and God has done that for us through Christ (Philippians 1:11, Philippians 3:9). God the Father has blessed every Christian abundantly through Christ our Lord. Therefore, let us live with thankful hearts for all He’s done for us.
