Day 6

Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 13:8–10

God gave an incredible description of His love, but then also gave a word of encouragement about His love, as we read in 1 Corinthians 13:8, “Love never fails…” To fully comprehend that God’s love is eternal brings us great peace and incredible hope for what is to come. Since His love is everlasting, though we experience it now, we know that in our present state we can’t fully comprehend His love, but a day is coming when we’ll be with Him and then we’ll know the fullness of His great love, not for a moment but for the rest of eternity. But then, God had Paul write in 1 Corinthians 13:8–10, “…but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part; 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.” Take note of all the gifts that one day will no longer be needed and will therefore cease to exist. It’s not that those gifts are not important. God gives those gifts to proclaim Him and His Word so that others can have the discernment they need to serve Him well. But when this world ceases and all Christians are home with the Lord, there will no longer be any need to evangelize. Everyone will be able to understand all of God’s truth and we will be able to communicate with each other with full understanding. Some gifts will be gone, but not His love.

Challenge & Application

Why is it important to know that some gifts will not be needed in heaven? Why can’t we fully comprehend God’s love even though we experience it now?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 3

God had Paul write this in 1 Corinthians 13:3: “And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.” Think about people who donate possessions, property, money, and other things to help the poor. Most people would see that as noble, honorable, kind, compassio...

Day 7

God had Paul give a great illustration for all Christians, as we read in 1 Corinthians 13:11–13, “When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know ...
