Scripture to Read: Romans 8:18
We continue our journey through the book of Romans as God challenges and encourages us through His Holy Word. This week we will focus on Romans 8:18–25 and see what God has to say to us as we examine His Word. We start today with Romans 8:18, For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Remember, last week God taught us that He has a deep desire for intimate fellowship with us each day. He reminded us that all believers are His children and that He is our loving Heavenly Daddy. It is incredibly encouraging to know we belong to God as His children. Today God reminds us that as His children, we will suffer in this world. God had Paul proclaim that even when we suffer, our suffering cannot come close to being compared to His glory, which will be revealed one day through Christ our Lord. What God shares is a great reminder that this earth is not our home. If we’re not careful, we will hold too tightly to the things of this world, and nothing in this world will last (2 Peter 3:10–12) other than the souls of men and women. Everything will be destroyed by God’s holy fire one day. The good news is that He has called us to live for His glory and to look forward to everything being made new in Him (2 Peter 3:13). Suffering will happen, but His glory is coming.
