Day 1

Scripture to Read: Romans 1

As we worship our Lord each day, He has invited us to fellowship with Him, which is an incredible privilege for all believers. We know He lives in us but practicing His presence in our lives is a daily discipline every believer must work at each day. This week, we will review Romans 1–8 since we’ve been away from our Romans study for the last eight Sundays. Today, we’re focusing on Romans 1. As we read Romans 1:2–3, we see how God had promised our Lord Jesus Christ's coming to the Old Testament prophets. We’re also reminded that we receive the fullness of God the Father’s grace through our Lord Jesus Christ. God used Paul to encourage the believers in Romans 1:8–15, and God uses this to remind us that we must be encouraging and praying for each other the same way. We must take special note of Romans 1:16–17 as God reminds us never to be ashamed of His Good News, the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, because the Gospel reveals God’s power for everyone’s salvation from the power and penalty of sin. We also see that God’s righteousness is revealed and that it starts with faith and leads to our faith growing in Him. Finally, in Romans 1:18–32, we read how people’s unbelief shuts them off from God. God loves these people, but He will eventually give them exactly what they want as they refuse to repent of their sins and choose to live fulfilling their flesh and only their flesh.

Challenge & Application

How are you encouraging and praying for all of the saints you know, and how are they doing that for you? How is your life revealing God’s power and showing others that you have been set free from the power and penalty of sin?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

As we examine Romans 2, we see how God led Paul to write a loving rebuke in Romans 2:1–16 to everyone who thinks they can make themselves righteous by trying to keep the Law. God makes it clear that anyone who is passing judgment on those living according to Romans 1:18–32 but who do not have a relationship with Him through our Lord Jesus Chr...

Day 3

Sin destroys everyone because sin always results in death. God had Paul reveal, in Romans 3:1–20, the ugliness of sin and the awesomeness of God’s righteousness. God had Paul ask some ridiculous questions in Romans 3 because God knows the hearts of mankind and knows that all mankind will seek to rationalize their sin and think God to be too h...

Day 4

God uses Paul, in Romans 4, to help everyone understand that faith is shown throughout the Old Testament through the lives of the saints of old. Abraham is the example that God has Paul use to help everyone see that Abraham’s faith in God is what saved Abraham from the power and penalty of sin. God has Paul quote Genesis 15:6, Then he believe...

Day 5

God always wants us to know the results of walking in obedience to Him. When we surrendered to Christ as Lord, our lives were made brand new. In Romans 5, God had Paul unfold for us God’s justification of our lives through our Lord Jesus Christ. As a reminder, justification can be broken down like this: (just as if I’d) never sinned. God the ...

Day 6

As God led Paul to pen the words in the book of Romans, as believers, we reap the benefit of feeding on the richness of God’s Holy Word. In Romans 6, God lets us know that as His children, we must continually live in the new life He’s given us through our Lord Jesus Christ. God reminds us that without Christ, we were dead in our sins. But sin...

Day 7

As we prepare for worship today, we close our week by reviewing Romans 7 and Romans 8. God had Paul remind us that His Law is perfect but that His Law alone cannot provide freedom from sin. God’s Law opens our eyes to the fact that we are sinners in need of God’s power to be set free from the power and penalty of sin. God’s Law is like a mirr...
