Scripture to Read: Colossians 4:3–4
God had Paul mention another way to pray for ourselves and for all the saints on the face of the earth. God had Paul write in Colossians 4:3–4, “praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.” God led Paul to ask the believers in Colossae to pray specifically for him. Paul was in prison because of his faith in Christ as Lord and Savior. However, Paul did not let his imprisonment hinder him from sharing the gospel with the prison guards and all the prisoners whenever he was given the opportunity. However, Paul knew that those opportunities were from his Lord, and so he asked the Christians in Colossae to pray and ask the Lord to open up more opportunities so that he could share Christ as often as possible. We need to pray this same prayer for ourselves and for all the saints. God would not have placed this in His Word unless He wanted us to take seriously what we ask from Him and to know that He loves to answer our prayers, as seen in this example in Colossians 4, so that we are actively sharing our faith in Christ with everyone God brings across our paths. God even had Paul ask that he be able to “make it clear.” God will give us clarity as we share the gospel.
