Scripture to Read: Romans 5:9–10
Most people don’t like to talk about the wrath of God. Most people understand why; it’s a subject that brings fear to people's hearts, so they try to avoid the issue altogether. But God talks about His wrath throughout His Word. God wants people to know that His wrath is real and that it is inevitable for those who refuse Christ as Lord of their lives. But the “good news” is that people can be freed from fearing God’s wrath. God gives us incredibly great news in Romans 5:9, “Therefore, since we have now been justified [declared free of the guilt of sin] by His blood, [how much more certain is it that] we will be saved from the wrath of God through Him.” (AMP) God’s wrath was completely poured out on Christ on the cross. Christ, on our behalf, took the full weight of the penalty to pay in full the price for our sin. The news of what Christ has done for us should excite us and spur us to share this fantastic news with everyone we know. But God has more, for His Word says this in Romans 5:10: “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, it is much more certain, having been reconciled, that we will be saved [from the consequences of sin] by His life [that is, we will be saved because Christ lives today].” So, everyone who surrenders to Christ as Lord is freed from ALL the consequences of sin because Christ took those consequences on Himself.
