Day 6

Scripture to Read: 2 Timothy 3:6-7

As we read 2 Timothy 3:6-7, we find that these morally corrupt people, in the “last days,” will also prey on morally, spiritually weak women. These are ladies who are weighed down with the cares of this life, with sins that are defeating them, and who are easily swayed by the lusts of their flesh and minds (Galatians 5:19-21 and 1 John 2:16-17). These women are seeking after knowledge but they keep missing God’s Truth. We see this today, especially in our country. These spiritually and morally weak women choose to follow popular female talk show hosts like Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks, the ladies on “The View,” Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O’Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg, and others just like them. All of these women have “entered into households and captivated weak women weighed down with sins.” Most of these women on their shows teach nothing but worldly garbage and then claim their words as truth. As believers, we have to proclaim God’s Truth, come alongside these spiritually and morally weak ladies, and help them see that their comfort, joy, contentment, purpose, self-worth, and so much more can only be found through a vibrant relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. God calls us to comfort those who need to be comforted and that true comfort is found in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:3-5). We have to be sure and guard our own lives as well so that we do not get caught up in letting false teachings creep into our lives through famous people in our world today.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about those who have crept into households and captivated morally and spiritually weak women? 2. How are you guarding your heart and life from falling prey to false teachings from famous people in our world today?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

As we begin 2 Timothy 3:1, through Paul, God tells us that the “last days” are not about war, famine, disease, or any other crisis that could come upon our body. God lays out that the wickedness of mankind marks the last days. Many theologians say that the "last days" began with the church's birth in the book of Acts. Mankind is most assuredl...

Day 2

For the next couple of days, we are going to take a closer look at the characteristics that God gives us, in 2 Timothy 3:2-5, of what people will be like in the “last days.” Today we can see all of these characteristics in people all around us and from all over the world. God says people will be “lovers of self.” They will be self-focused and...

God reveals to us the obvious signs that we are in the “last days” and that our Lord Jesus Christ could return for His church any time. We must be living for our Lord daily, sharing the beautiful news of the Gospel with everyone and living with the great excit...

Day 4

God wants us to recognize that we are in the “last days.” As we read in our Day 1 Devotion, many theologians agree that the “last days” began when the church was birthed in the book of Acts. We must understand that every generation could testify that these characteristics described in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 have been seen among the people of their g...

Day 5

As God walks us through this week in 2 Timothy 3:1-5, we have read all about the fleshly characteristics that people will choose to blatantly walk in during the “last days.” Today we read in 2 Timothy 3:5 that these same people will hold onto a “form of godliness, although they have denied its power.” God wants us to know that these people wi...

Day 7

As we end this week in 2 Timothy 3:1-9, our focus today is on verses 8-9. Through Paul, God shares with Timothy and us that the people described in 2 Timothy 3:1-7 will be just like Jannes and Jambres, the magicians who opposed Moses in Egypt (Exodus 7:11-12; Exodus 7:22; Exodus 8:7; Exodus 8:18; Exodus 9:11). Interestingly, God gave Paul the...
