Day 2

Scripture to Read: 1 Timothy 4:4-5

Yesterday we ended the devotion by seeing that certain people would be saying that biblical marriage is wrong and that these same people will push certain foods NOT to be eaten. What God wants us to know, though, is that He has created these foods for us so that they can nourish us. We must choose to be grateful to God and enjoy what He has given us to keep us strong and healthy. We must choose to eat wisely and healthy and not overeat so our bodies are useful to our Lord. We, as believers, choose to eat what God graciously provides because, as we read in 1 Timothy 4:4, we see that “everything created by God is good.” This Truth ties right into God’s Truth in James 1:17, “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” What we must do is have an attitude of thanks to our Heavenly Father for all that He provides for us every day of our lives. If we’re not careful, we can allow an ungodly attitude to take root in our lives and we can begin thinking that we are owed what we have. The reality we must live in is that everything we have has been given to us by God. We must see that our talents, gifts, clothes, food, job, health, family, friends, and so much more are all precious gifts from our Creator. We must dedicate it all to God and thank Him through prayer.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about all that you have? 2. How are you practicing thankfulness to our Lord for everything that He has given to you?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

We will be walking through 1 Timothy 4:1-16 this week. God has much in store for us, so be sure and read through the chapter each day and pray for God to give you the discernment you need to understand and apply all He teaches you this week. God ends 1 Timothy 3 with this in verse 16, “By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: ...

Day 3

In light of what God taught us in our first two devotions, God continues today in 1 Timothy 4:6, reminding Timothy, and us, that we must make our brothers and sisters in Christ aware of false teachers and false teachings. We must help protect each other from falling into following any popular teaching if that teaching does not line up with Go...

Day 4

As we begin 1 Timothy 4:9-10 today, we read that God says, “It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance.” So, what is the “trustworthy statement?” What God shared with us in verse 8, that “godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” Walking a godly life is wha...

Day 5

Today our focus is on 1 Timothy 4:12. Many who are working through this devotion today are no longer “young” in the world’s eyes and yet many others still are. No matter what our chronological age might be, we must live our lives so that no one has any reason to “look down on” (think less of) us. God wants us to live our lives above reproach ...

Day 6

We continue in 1 Timothy 4:12 by examining the last two areas that we are to be a godly example to others. God tells us that we are to be an example through our faith. Faith is displayed through our actions in the way we trust in God, cling to God, and rely on God in all areas of our lives. Faith is what God has given us so we can follow Him ...

Day 7

As we complete our journey this week through 1 Timothy 4:1-16, we find God using Paul to give to Timothy and, of course, to us some final truth to walk in daily. First, in 1 Timothy 4:13, God wants us to share His Word and through His Word to exhort (encourage) and teach others. God’s Word is the only Truth we have and God’s Truth is what God...
