Scripture to Read: 1 Timothy 1:12
This week we will be examining 1 Timothy 1:12-20 and all that God has for us to learn from Him through His Holy Word. As we read 1 Timothy 1:12, we see that God led Paul to share how he was giving thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ. Paul gives thanks because he had found his strength through his fellowship with our Lord Jesus Christ. We face battles in this life every day. Because of the struggles we face, if we are not in daily fellowship with our Lord and feeding on His Word, we will be defeated on the battlefield. God tells us, through Paul, in Ephesians 6:10, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” If we are not careful, we will fall into the trap of trusting and resting in our strength and not the strength we have through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our strength will never be sufficient enough for the tests and trials of this life. We must totally trust in our Lord and walk in His strength. God also led Paul to mention how He considered Paul faithful to put Paul into His service. We need to be sure and thank God every day that He has considered each of us worthy to be called into His service. We know God has works for us to do for He tells us this in Ephesians 2:10, in Titus 2:14, and many other places in His Word. We just need to walk in those works and glorify our King.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you about where your strength is found and about doing good works for Him?
2. How are you walking in the strength of our Lord and what works do you walk in each day?
Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!
