Day 7

Scripture to Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:23-28

Sweet words from God, through Paul, are the ones found in these final verses in 1 Thessalonians 5:23-28. What a great reminder in verse 23 that God is the one who sanctifies us completely. God is the Only One who has the power to separate us from worldly and offensive things and to make us pure and whole, through His Holy Spirit who lives in us. God has given us His Spirit, so we have the power to walk away from (to crucify) our worldly desires and the offensive things that dishonor our Lord. God has claimed us as His own. Therefore, we are undamaged (perfected by Christ), consecrated (dedicated, set apart) for His purpose and plans. Also, through His Holy Spirit who lives in us, we are to live in such a way that our spirit and soul (our mind, will and emotions) and body are found blameless when our Lord Jesus Christ comes back for His church. Because Christ gave His life for us, we are made complete in Him, but we must choose to live in the new life He has given us. God has given us so much here in 1 Thessalonians on how to live this new life in Him. We also find how to live our new life in Christ in Galatians 5, Ephesians 4:17-32, Ephesians 5, Colossians 3, Philippians 2, and so many other Scriptures as well. The beautiful thing is that Christ will fulfill His call on our lives by guarding, protecting, and watching over us because we belong to Him.

Day 1

God has called all of us, as believers, to serve in His work, His ministry (Ephesians 2:10; Philippians 2:13; Titus 2:14; Titus 3:8; 1 Peter 4:10-11). God has also called some to be the equippers of the saints (Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Corinthians 12:28) so that every saint serves well in the body of Christ. God has commanded every believer to be...

Day 2

Today God challenges us in 1 Thessalonians 5:14 to do four things as brothers and sisters in Christ. First, God tells us to “admonish the unruly.” God makes it clear that we are to lovingly discipline our brothers and sisters in Christ who are undisciplined, unruly, or disorderly. Anytime we have to rebuke another believer, it is NEVER easy. ...

Day 3

God knows we struggle with anger and vengeance. If we did not struggle with anger and revenge, there would not be so many Scriptures from God telling us to overcome these emotions. Today in 1 Thessalonians 5:15 God tells us that we are NOT to repay evil to anyone even if someone does evil against us. Jesus said it this way in Matthew 5:44, “B...

Day 4

Some of God’s Word is hard to understand. God led Peter to tell us this in 2 Peter 3:16 “as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.” God led Peter to write about Paul’s ...

Day 5

Today we focus on 1 Thessalonians 5:18-19. God tells us that we need to give thanks in everything because this is His will for us. As we saw God’s will for us in 1 Thessalonians 4:3, we see it here again; giving thanks is His perfect will for every believer. Giving thanks to our Lord is something we must put into practice every day. Sometimes...

Day 6

God gives us a command in 1 Thessalonians 5:20 that we are not to despise spoken revelations from His Word. These spoken revelations can include words of instruction, exhortation or possibly words of warning. There are no new prophecies today because God’s Word is complete. God wants us to listen carefully to the preaching and teaching of His...
