Day 2

Scripture to Read: 1 Thessalonians 4:2

Today the question is not whether we know what God has commanded us to do. The real question we need to ask ourselves every day is, “Are we obeying what God has commanded us to do?” All of God’s Word was given, not for mere knowledge but that we would walk according to the knowledge our Lord has given us. God has given us His Holy Spirit to live in us so we can have a full understanding of His Word. God also uses preachers and teachers in our lives to guide us through His Truth. The problem with far too many Christians, here in the USA, is that once we read His Word or hear His Word taught or preached, we quickly forget His Word. If we cannot remember what we have read or been taught, then there is no way we will obey His Word. God challenges us with this same Truth in James 1:21-25, but let’s take special note of verses 23-25; “23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.” We must be doers of what He has commanded us to do.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about the commandments He has given to us? 2. Who will you lovingly challenge this week about walking in obedience to our Lord and His Word?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Going through 1 Thessalonians is so enriching and the reason for this is that it is the Word of God. God has given us His Word so we will know Him, live according to His Word, and be filled with His Word so we can overcome every temptation, test, trial, and tribulation we face. God has also given us equippers (evangelists, pastors, teachers, ...

Day 3

One of the number one questions for most young Christians, especially those in their teens, ’20s, ’30s, and even ’40s, is “What is God’s will for my life?” God wants us to know His will because, as our loving Heavenly Father, He desires us to walk in His will. In 1 Thessalonians 4:3, God says what His will is for us, and His will is that we a...

Plus, God warns us not to cheat a brother or sister in Christ thro...

Day 5

God has called each of us, as believers, to honor and glorify Him through our lives. As we read 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 today, we see that God has NOT called us to live impure in any area of our lives. To live pure sexually definitely honors our King. But we should also live pure lives in the six other areas of our lives. This means we choose t...

Day 6

God has commanded all of us to love each other. God laid this out in the Old Testament and then showed us the perfect way to love by sending His Only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ loved perfectly and modeled for us how we ought to love each other. Loving others is hard, because, as we know, loving others is never about how we feel, but i...

Day 7

God has called us to live our lives in such a way that we are not a burden to anyone else. God has also commanded us to live so that lost people see we live above reproach in all areas of our lives. God tells us today, in 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12, that we are to make it our daily goal to live our lives quietly and peacefully. To live quiet and...
