Day 1

Scripture to Read: 1 Thessalonians 4:1

Going through 1 Thessalonians is so enriching and the reason for this is that it is the Word of God. God has given us His Word so we will know Him, live according to His Word, and be filled with His Word so we can overcome every temptation, test, trial, and tribulation we face. God has also given us equippers (evangelists, pastors, teachers, bishops, elders, overseers, deacons - Ephesians 4:11, 1 Timothy 3; Philippians 1:1; Titus 1:5; Titus 1:7) in our lives to teach, exhort, instruct, reprove, guide, and shepherd us. God wants us to walk in obedience to His Word and be pleasing to Him through our obedience. As we begin with 1 Thessalonians 4:1, God uses Paul to remind the believers in Thessalonica, and also us, “that as we have received instruction as to how we ought to walk and please God, that we excel even more” (paraphrase). God never wants us to get to the point in our walk with Him where we think we have it all together. Our lives, as Christians, should always be in a continual state of growth. No matter how long we have been a believer, we should be growing and maturing each day in our knowledge of God, His Word, and in our obedience to His Word. Take special note of verse 1 and see that the believers in Thessalonica were walking in obedience to our Lord. Walking in obedience to our Lord ought to be the testimony for every one of us as well.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about all the instruction that you have been taught over the years? 2. Who will you encourage today by challenging them to walk and please God through their life?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

Today the question is not whether we know what God has commanded us to do. The real question we need to ask ourselves every day is, “Are we obeying what God has commanded us to do?” All of God’s Word was given, not for mere knowledge but that we would walk according to the knowledge our Lord has given us. God has given us His Holy Spirit to l...

Day 3

One of the number one questions for most young Christians, especially those in their teens, ’20s, ’30s, and even ’40s, is “What is God’s will for my life?” God wants us to know His will because, as our loving Heavenly Father, He desires us to walk in His will. In 1 Thessalonians 4:3, God says what His will is for us, and His will is that we a...

We continue to unfold God’s command about walking in purity in our sexual conduct. God warns us not to commit an offense against a brother or sister in Christ, or anyone else for that matter, in our sexual behavior. We are to treat each other with the highest respect and love. Plus, God warns us not to cheat a brother or sister in Christ thro...

Day 5

God has called each of us, as believers, to honor and glorify Him through our lives. As we read 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 today, we see that God has NOT called us to live impure in any area of our lives. To live pure sexually definitely honors our King. But we should also live pure lives in the six other areas of our lives. This means we choose t...

Day 6

God has commanded all of us to love each other. God laid this out in the Old Testament and then showed us the perfect way to love by sending His Only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ loved perfectly and modeled for us how we ought to love each other. Loving others is hard, because, as we know, loving others is never about how we feel, but i...

Day 7

God has called us to live our lives in such a way that we are not a burden to anyone else. God has also commanded us to live so that lost people see we live above reproach in all areas of our lives. God tells us today, in 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12, that we are to make it our daily goal to live our lives quietly and peacefully. To live quiet and...
