Day 2

Scripture to Read: 1 Peter 3:15–16

As God has told us that persecution will come, He also sets out for us the foundation for our lives and what we must do each day. In 1 Peter 3:15–16, God tells us that we must sanctify Christ as Lord in our hearts, which means we must choose to worship Christ as Lord in all areas of our lives. Christ is Lord, but we must submit to His leadership and walk in the holiness He has given us through His Spirit in us. As we walk in Christ's holiness, we are also always to be prepared if someone asks about our hope as a believer and be ready to explain to them who Christ is and who we are in Christ. Sharing about Christ and what He's done for us, as well as what He's currently doing in us, is so important. People all around us need to know who Christ is, what He's done, and the change He can make in their lives. As we share Christ and His Truth, we must always communicate with a gentle and respectful attitude so that we do not push anyone away from Christ. Going hand-in-hand with being gentle and respectful, God also makes it clear, in 1 Peter 3:16, that our lives must be so far above reproach that our conscience is clear. When our lives are above reproach, if anyone speaks against us, they will be ashamed when they recognize what a good life we live because we belong to Christ. This is just another way of being a good witness for our Lord.

Challenge & Application

1. How are you currently choosing to worship Christ as Lord in all areas of your life? 2. Pray Colossians 4:3–4, for God to open up an opportunity for you to share the gospel this week.

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Last week, God showed us that when we experience evil, we are not to respond by repaying evil with evil but choosing to bless instead. Choosing to bless those who have hurt us requires us to be in right fellowship with our Lord and walking in obedience to Him. In 1 Peter 3:13–14, God's Word says, Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous ...

Day 3

As we live for God, He tells us in 1 Peter 3:17, For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong. God is making sure we know that when suffering occurs, we should suffer for obeying Him and NOT for making unwise decisions. In 1 Peter 3:18, God continues by clarifying what...

Day 4

Yesterday we read how Jesus suffered for our sin and how God's redemption story was proclaimed to the people in Noah's day. Today God shows a comparison between salvation in Noah's day through the ark to the act of baptism. God has Peter write in 1 Peter 3:21, Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the flesh...

Day 5

So, as we read 1 Peter 4, we see how God reminds us that Christ is our example and that we are to live our lives fulfilling God's will and not seeking what we want. God also reminds us that we must be renewed in our minds (Romans 12:2, Ephesians 4:23, 2 Corinthians 10:3–5, Colossians 3:1–4), no longer thinking fleshly, but spiritually. God la...

Day 6

Today God reminds us that we've accomplished enough sin in our past because we used to pursue the same evil things that lost people still follow (immorality, lust, gluttony, drunkenness, wild parties, and the worship of idols). God also tells us that we no longer need to look like the world in any of our actions. This lost world encourages pe...

Day 7

Yesterday, we saw that while unbelievers may ridicule us for our faith, they will be held accountable before the throne of God and face His judgment. The truth is we would face this same judgment if we had not surrendered to Christ as Lord of our lives. Now, we will all give an account to God one day (Romans 14:12), but the beauty is that Chr...
