Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 3:16–20
We know our body is going to die, but God wants us to take care of it. If anyone should be concerned about how they eat, exercise, what they drink, and so on, it should be Christians. God had Paul write in 1 Corinthians 3:16–17, “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.” God says that His temple is not a man-made building, but His temple is every born-again believer. Since our body is God’s temple, we must care for it. If we make excuses for not caring for it and laugh about our flippant attitude about our bodies, then we are not treating God’s temple with the care it deserves. God’s temple is holy, and that is what we are. God also wants us to understand the difference between the world’s wisdom and His wisdom in 1 Corinthians 3:18–20, “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, ‘He is the one who catches the wise in their craftiness’; 20 and again, ‘The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are useless.’” We must walk in God’s wisdom (James 3:17) and never fall prey to the world’s wisdom (James 3:15).
