Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 1:30–31
God gives us a great reminder today as we read the following in 1 Corinthians 1:30–31, “But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written, ‘Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.’” First, God reminds us that He chose us long before we ever chose to follow Him. God tells us this also in Ephesians 1:3–4, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.” The rich blessings of God through Christ are innumerable. He alone makes us holy and blameless. God the Father, through our Lord Jesus Christ, sent His Holy Spirit to live in us. Since Christ is “wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption” we have everything we need to know and follow Him. When we see through God’s Word the abundance of His blessings upon us, we fully realize that we are so much more than we could ever imagine or think. We also realize, just as God’s Word says, we have nothing to boast in except Christ Himself. We know we’re nothing without Him, but we are everything through Him. That is why we must share Him with this lost world, because real value and purpose can only be found through a relationship with Christ our Lord.
