Day 7

Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 11:33–34

God had Paul close out what he had written about the Lord’s Supper by writing this in 1 Corinthians 11:33–34: “So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another. 34 If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you will not come together for judgment. The remaining matters I will arrange when I come.” God had Paul share with them pretty clearly that when they gathered together to participate in the Lord’s Supper, they should make sure they waited for everyone to be present in order to guarantee that no one missed out on partaking of the Lord’s Supper. But then, God also had Paul write to them that if anyone was too hungry to wait to partake of the Lord’s Supper, they needed to make sure they ate at home before showing up for worship. God even had Paul tell them that if they showed up hungry and misused the Lord’s Supper by eating and drinking just to fill their stomachs, they would bring God’s judgment on themselves. God also had Paul mention that he would attend to the remaining matters, including the things they had written to him and asked about, when he had a chance to return to them. God does not reveal to us what those remaining matters were; we simply know that God would use Paul to deal with those matters when Paul saw them again. The beauty is that we have the full revelation of our Lord through His Word and His Holy Spirit in us, so walk obediently with Him.

Day 3

God had Paul talk about the divisions, but God also had Paul mention the factions. They might seem like the same thing, but then we read in 1 Corinthians 11:19, “For there must also be factions among you, so that those who are approved may become evident among you.” God allowed the factions “so that those who are of approved character may be ...

Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall...

We read in 1 Corinthians 1:27–32, “Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 28 But a man must examine himself, and in so doin...
