About this Sermon Series

Advent

12/4/2016 - 12/25/2016

Light is such a natural part of our Christmas experience. We put lights on our Christmas trees and decorate our houses with lights. Christmas Eve services are typically “candlelight serices.” As we look back at the Christmas story, the wise men found Jesus because of a bright star. And when the shepherds heard the angelic announcement, glorious light filled the night sky. In the opening to his gospel, John tells us that Jesus is the true light. Jesus—God in human flesh—steps into the futility and darkness of the world and brings the light of hope. Paul tells us in Romans that the weary world groans as it waits for redemption through Christ. Weary sinners, groaning with the weight of brokenness, find rest and adoption in the kindly light of Christ’s grace. Christ has come. The true light has arrived. Whatever your circumstances are this Christmas season, you have reason to hope in Jesus. Our greatest need in life has been satisfied completely in Him.
