Scripture to Read: Luke 18:1-8
As God led Luke to write His Word, God made sure to let us know, here in Luke 18:1, that the parable of the persistent widow was a parable all about prayer and not losing heart. So, our focus this week is going to be on prayer and not losing heart. As you consider your prayer life, think about how you would describe your prayer life to someone. Is your prayer life stale, boring, mechanical, or even feeling meaningless? Or is your prayer life passionate, vibrant, transforming, exciting, and very much alive? Prayer is God’s invitation to us to join Him in His throne room of grace to have incredible intimate fellowship with Him. Prayer is not just about asking for something, even though asking is definitely an essential part of prayer. Prayer is also about thanking God for all He has done already, is doing, and will continue to do until He calls us home. Prayer is also praising and adoring God for who He is and for who we are in Him and through Him. We praise and adore our loving Heavenly Father for continually giving us His abundant mercy, love, grace, and forgiveness. Prayer is also all about experiencing God’s perfect peace as we fellowship with Him and realize He is in charge of everything, even when our feelings tell us otherwise. Prayer is also about practicing God’s incredible presence in our lives continually since He lives in us through His Holy Spirit. So, let’s all begin to refocus our prayer lives and learn to passionately fall in love with our Lord every day.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you today about prayer that you have not thought about before?
2. How will your prayer life begin to change from what God has taught you today?
Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!
