Day 1

Scripture to Read: Daniel 12:5–7

In 1 Peter 5:5, we know “God humbles the proud and gives grace to the humble.” God does this in Daniel 12:5–7 as He reveals His future plans for the nation of Israel. We read in Daniel 12:5 how two others were standing on the two banks of the river. The river Daniel referenced was the Tigris, revealed in Daniel 10:4. In Daniel 12:7, a third is described as dressed in linen. In Daniel 10:5, we read, “…there was a certain man dressed in linen.” God does not tell us who this is (though I think it’s the angel Gabriel), but we see it’s the same description. In Daniel 12:6, one angel asked how long the tribulation would be. In Daniel 12:7, he answered with his right and left hands raised towards heaven (a sign of a solemn oath) and he swore by Him who lives forever. He did this because humans have doubts, and God wants everyone to believe Him and His Word, no matter what. There’s a seven-year period in the future, as noted in Daniel 9:27, and the seven years will be divided by the desecration of the temple by the Antichrist. In Matthew 24:15–22, Jesus warns the Jews who will be living in Jerusalem midway through the tribulation that when they see the temple desecrated, they should flee to the mountains because it will be a time of distress like never before and will never be repeated. Knowing the tribulation is coming, we must continually lead others to know and follow our Lord.

Challenge & Application

We know God humbles the proud; so, how are you choosing to humble yourself each day to honor your Lord? How is God currently using you to lead others to know and follow Jesus?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

In Revelation 12:6–17, God had John record what happens in the spiritual world in the second half of the tribulation. Satan will lose his access to Heaven. Currently, Satan enters heaven to accuse the brethren, as recorded in the Book of Job and in Revelation 12:10. Even Jesus referenced this in Luke 22:31, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has de...

Day 3

God will use the tribulation period to convert the nation of Israel to Christ. In Daniel 12:7, it says, “as soon as they finish shattering the power of the holy people.” Note that God is “shattering the power of the holy people.” Only for the nation of Israel does God promise a national revival. In Romans 11:26, God’s Word says, “and so all I...

Day 4

God designed prophecy to become more understandable the closer we get to when the things predicted in the Book of Daniel will happen. In Daniel 12:9, God had the angel tell Daniel that he should seal the vision. God the Father left it to the work of the Holy Spirit in a distant generation to reveal the things that had been shown to Daniel. In...

Day 5

In Daniel 12:10, God gave an answer to the contrast between the righteous and the wicked, as it says, “Many will be purged, purified and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.” The “many” is often used as a reference to the nation of Israel. We see this i...

Day 6

Many, through the tribulation, will become hardened toward God. Daniel 12:10 says, “the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand.” God also reveals this in Revelation 9:20–21, “The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the ido...

Day 7

We read in Daniel 12:13, “But as for you, go your way to the end; then you will enter into rest and rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age.” This is Daniel’s future inheritance, how he will enter his rest and rise to enter into his portion in the millennial kingdom. Those words are so encouraging. We must make sure we are ...
