Day 3

Scripture to Read: John 1:39

Jesus knew these two men who had been disciples of John the Baptist were ready to follow Him. Jesus’ response to these two men is still the same today for anyone who is willing to surrender to Him as Lord. We read in John 1:39, “He *said to them, ‘Come, and you will see.’ So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.” Jesus told them to “Come, and you will see,” which are the sweetest words for anyone who seeks after Him. Christ invites everyone to follow Him and know Him as Lord. The choice is in the hands of each individual. We know it’s a choice because God tells us in Romans 1:21–23, “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.” God used Paul to describe people who knew about God but wouldn’t worship Him as God or thank Him. Instead, they chose to follow their foolish hearts. But for those who choose to surrender to Christ as Lord, He loves to show us and do in us “far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us” (Ephesians 3:20).

Challenge & Application

• Christ’s invitation to follow Him is for all who are willing; so, how is God using you to help others understand Christ’s invitation for them? • How have you seen God do far more abundantly beyond all that you could ask or think, according to His power working in you?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the only One worthy of following. Though there are many people in this life that we look up to, no one is more worthy of following than Christ our Lord. To be Christ’s disciple means to be one of His followers. Disciple means “follower, believer, student, protege," so we must choose to follow the One True Lamb of God....

Day 2

The two men who started following Jesus were immediately questioned by Jesus. We read in John 1:38, “And Jesus turned and saw them following, and *said to them, ‘What do you seek?’ They said to Him, ‘Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?’” Jesus challenged these two young men to examine their hearts and ask themselves...

Andrew went to Simon Peter and told him about Jesus and then he went one step further. We read in John 1:42, “He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, ‘You are Simon the son of John; you shall be called Cephas’ (whi...

Day 6

Jesus continued to call His disciples to Himself. We read in John 1:43–46, The next day He purposed to go into Galilee, and He *found Philip. And Jesus *said to him, “Follow Me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip *found Nathanael and *said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also ...

Day 7

Nathanael made the decision to follow Phillip to meet Jesus. We read what happened in John 47–51, Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and *said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael *said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fi...
