Because middle and high school camp are on the same weeks, we worked hard to reduce the cost of middle school camp. This cost is far below the actual camp cost. If you are interested in providing a full or partial scholarship for another student, please email students@highview.org.

What is included in cost?
Everything the students will need is included!

What is not included in cost?
Crossings offers snacks for sale at different times during the day. There will also be a missions offering later in the week. Other than that, there will not be any need for extra cash.

What to bring?

• Pillow and sheets or sleeping bag
• Towels: Beach towel and bath towels
• Toiletries (toothbrush, soap, shampoo, etc)
• A complete Bible, notepad, and pen for Bible Study and Worship.
• Appropriate clothing (see dress code at bottom)
• Some “grubby” clothes and tennis shoes for outdoor recreation. Bring one set of clothes that could be thrown away if desiring to participate in the mud pit activities.
• Shorts that are made out of fairly sturdy material (ex. Khaki shorts). Thin shorts such as mesh shorts and cheerleading shorts will not be appropriate for activities that require a harness (ex. Ziplines etc.)
• Modest one-piece swimsuits. Females MUST wear shorts over their swimsuits.
• You must wear your shirt to and from Lake activities. Bring appropriate shirts (not white) to wear over your swimsuit.
• Sunscreen and insect repellent.
• Spending Money. Students and adults will have opportunities to make purchases throughout the week (concessions, T-shirts, etc.) and a missions offering will be collected one night during worship.

What Not to bring?
Cell phones, PSPs, iPods, or any other electronic device. Drugs, alcohol, firearms, knives or explosives. Leaders will have cell phones to stay connected with ministers and for emergencies, etc. Students are not allowed to bring cell phones.

Dress Code: Campers and adults are expected to reflect a Christian example by their dress. Parents, adult leaders, and church leaders are responsible for the clothing/appearance of their campers and adults attending camp. The manner of dress expected should be set and clearly communicated prior to leaving home. A Crossings Program Director has the final say in all matters regarding attire.

We’ll have an incredible time of worship in both the morning and evening. This year, Dr. Brandon Shields will be teaching on “The Kingdom” and discovering our place in God’s great story. We’ll also share the Lord’s supper and have testimonies from students and adults.

We’ll have an all-star Highview Students band, engaging times of worship, and a team of dedicated adults to make this a challenging spiritual experience for high school students. This is an all-campus combined high school event.

Houseboat camp is supervised by the student ministry staff and a large team of adult leaders from Highview including parents of teenagers and other Highview staff.

What’s Not Included?
Everything students will need is included in cost. Students who are 16 and older and want to fish should purchase a fishing license before coming. Students 15 and younger do not need a fishing license.

Please note: Cell phones are not permitted on the trip. This does not mean that students can have phones but can’t use them during the week. By signing the code of conduct form, parents agree that they will not allow their student to bring a phone. Any found phones will be confiscated and will only be returned to the parent. Parents, show integrity and partner with us in enforcing the rules.

Thirst: Thirst is a discipleship program intended to push middle and high school students further along in their walk with Christ, culminating in a national mission trip.

The Training: Thirst training occurs every Sunday night from March 11 until April 1. East Campus training will meet from 6 until 8 at the Greenhouse, and Fegenbush training will be held from 6 until 8 in room 305. The training will consist of worship, teaching, and trip-specific training for middle school and high school students.

The Trip: The students who complete the requirements will be eligible to go on a mission trip during Spring break.

• Middle School -  St. Louis / April 9-13
• High School -  New York City / April 8-13

The Cost: Due to the generosity of our church members giving faithfully to Million to Missions, we are able to subsidize more than half of the trip cost.

• Middle School -  $275 by March 18 / $300 after
• High School -  $350 by March 18 / $375 after

The Requirements: Thirst has three primary requirements geared to helping students grow in their relationship with the Lord:

Accountability:

• Note taking – Students must take notes from Sunday morning worship, Bible Fellowship, and Wednesday nights from March 4 – April 8.
• Scripture – Students must memorize the Scripture given to them.
• Devotions – Students must have a daily personal quiet time and take notes about what they learned.

Instruction:

• Students must attend the 4 training sessions.

Attitude:

• Students must demonstrate a Christ-like attitude throughout the process.

Carl Trueman provides excellent wisdom on talking to your kids about the Trinity. Here is one excerpt:

“In teaching kids something like the Trinity, it is important to give them the right ideas, or at least the right basic vocabulary, from the word go. A silly rap tune which hammers home that God is three and God is one is, well, a silly rap tune; but if it avoids misleading natural analogies and fixes in the minds of those who listen a form of sound words, rather than a form of unsound words, then it has surely done a good thing even if, as my wife tells me `It sounds terrible!’”
